adidas POWERBAND golf shoes

powerband.jpg

The fellows at adidas Golf have launched a new shoe upon us, that helps keep your feet from being muddy and wet (I know, thats the point of all shoes, but read on…) using a special new Thermoplastic Polyurethane shield to make sure that everything stays as it should be in less-than-perfect playing conditions.

It also has advanced cushioning technology to make sure you get the best from your game, whilst gaining confidence from comfort.

It will hit in April for an RRP of £89.99. More about the tech behind it after the hop…

adidas Golf, the most recognisable footwear brand on Tour, has introduced the POWERBAND Sport, a remarkable new shoe with an advanced combination of swing-enhancement features and inner climate-control construction making it a unique and must-have piece of equipment for every serious golfer.

What sets POWERBAND Sport apart from the crowd is a proprietary new technology called 50/50 Protect, which combines a water-resistant Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) shield with membrane-lined mesh to surround the lower half of the shoe and protect the foot from mud, dirt, wet grass, etc. The top half of the shoe utilises lightweight and highly breathable air-mesh for improved temperature management, flexibility, comfort and a bold, athletic look.

In the past, mesh golf shoes have suffered from moisture penetration, especially while walking in wet rough; soiling of the mesh from dirt and mud; and a lack of stability. 50/50 Protect technology and the POWERBAND CHASSIS together, overcome those hurdles. The impermeable laminated TPU membrane surrounds and protects the foot beneath the mid-line of the shoe to keep the foot dry. The mono-mesh upper material resists soiling and cleans quickly and easily. In addition the POWERBAND CHASSIS lends the stability necessary to allow even better players to build power from the ground up and swing fast and confidently while wearing a mesh shoe.

The POWERBAND Sport shoe also incorporates a variety of additional technologies developed to improve comfort and performance: adidas Golf’s POWERBAND CHASSIS is a TPU-midsole frame that cradles the foot to provide increased support and leverage, which in turn promotes greater power and control. adiPRENE®+ provides added cushioning for improved energy management.

The FIT FOAM® sock-liner’s molded PU conforms to the foots contours, promoting improved lateral stability and comfort. GripZone locks the foot in place during the swing, enhancing control and stability. The lightweight EVA midsole increases comfort and helps reduce fatigue. Also, the clog-resistant DTAC cleats promote improved grip, stability and comfort.

The product of this unique collaboration of modern athletic design and cutting edge performance technologies is an incredibly light, comfortable and charismatic shoe that keeps the foot cool and dry and the athlete focused.

“The development of the POWERBAND Sport shoe was inspired by two things”, says Dave Ortley, director of footwear for adidas Golf. “First, by a new category of golfer who has emerged during the past few years who can be described as a modern athlete who seeks every performance edge and advantage possible. However, this shoe’s combination of incredible comfort, swing-enhancing technologies, climate-control construction and dynamic design makes it a must-have piece of equipment for golfers of all types. Second, the POWERBAND Sport shoe was inspired by the never-ending evolution of the game, which drives ever-changing needs for golfers.”

The POWERBAND Sport shoe will be available at adidas Golf retail partners in April and is offered in three colour combinations: metallic silver/metallic silver/indigo, running white/metallic silver/energy and sun/metallic silver/black, and in two widths, medium and wide. The recommended retail price (RRP) is £89.99, €150, SEK 1,500, NOK 1,300, DKK 1,200, CHF 250.
